From family-run farmhouses to boutique valley lodges — here’s what’s typically included in a tour package, and what you can upgrade to.
THREE TIERS
What's Included, and What You Can Upgrade
STANDARD
3-Star & Farmhouse
The default inclusion on most tour packages: comfortable, locally-run 3-star hotels in towns, and family farmhouse stays in villages — simple, warm, and genuinely local.
COMFORT
4-Star
A step up in room size and amenities while staying with Bhutanese-owned properties, available as an upgrade on any tour package for a per-night supplement.
LUXURY
Boutique & Lodge
Design-forward valley lodges and boutique properties for travellers who want a quieter, more polished base between days on the road — available on request for any itinerary.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Comfort Without Losing the Local Feel
Ensuite Rooms as Standard
Even our Standard-tier farmhouses and hotels include private bathrooms, unless a specific homestay is agreed in advance.
Hot Stone Baths on Request
Many farmhouses and lodges can arrange a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath for an additional fee, worth building into a trekking itinerary.
Wifi in Towns, Not Always in the Hills
Expect reliable wifi in Paro, Thimphu and Punakha; more remote valleys and trek camps may have limited or no connectivity.
Meals Usually Included
Most tour packages include breakfast, lunch and dinner at your lodging or en route, featuring Bhutanese and continental options.
